The most hysterically bullshit alarmist post on SOPA yet

I’ll close this essay with a poem that truly does fit, for all of you that don’t believe this will affect you. I’m changing it a bit to better fit the subject matter of this essay/rant/plea:

First they came for the downloaders,
and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a downloader.

Then they came for the youtubers,
and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a youtuber.

Then they came for the bloggers,
and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a blogger.

and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a social networker.

Then they came for me
and there was no one left to speak out for me.

Thank you for your time. Goodnight, my fellow tumblrers. I hope to continue seeing you for a long time to come…If not, it was an honor blogging with you all. And ask yourself this: If they come for you, how will you feel knowing you could have helped to prevent this if you’d just spoken up in the first place?

Jesus christ I can’t stop laughing

Yes, internet censorship is bad. No, it is not akin to watching as your friends and neighbors are taken from their homes and shipped off to die en masse. Jesus. Fucking. Christ.

So Ryan’s adorable little Facebook status got an eyeroll out of me, but it’s Callie who really made me jaw drop. Callie, unless I’m mistaken, is a woman. Who is comparing the IQ of ALL WOMEN to rocks.

Are you fucking kidding me with this? This is internalized misogyny at an unbelievable new level.

Anyone ever notice how it’s always the STRIPPERS who are allegedly gross, diseased, and regarded absolutely zero respect, and never the overwhelmingly heterosexual male patrons? Sexism is neat. Just ask Bradley Ellis and JR Tschopp here.

Well, champy, what’s offensive about it is the assumption that all women must be good at making sandwiches (as opposed to mechanical tasks), and that all men must be good at mechanical tasks (as opposed to making sandwiches). That is called “gender essentialism” and it is total bullshit!

[not pictured here: photo in question- a sub-like sandwich on a roll stuffed with with tofu, tomatoes, etc]
Alyssa sent me this, and to be honest, she did such an amazing take-down that my work here is done. Thanks, Alyssa!

Rubi writes, “The battle rages on, but apparently i’m losing because everyone in my town are close minded sexists.” I know the original image is a little small, so allow me to transcribe this…debate? Jackass festival? I don’t know, but here’s the transcript (with my commentary in bold/parentheses):
Morgan: If your shorts are shorter than your underwear you need new shorts, slut. (Starting off strong.)
Rubi: *Posts link to this video*
Morgan Hatten: You like to listen to 13year olds?] Thats cool.
Rubi: That 13 year old is more educated than you apparently, because knowledge isn’t measured by age. And by calling a promiscuous girl a slut you are dehumanizing her, and degrading her.
Morgan: If her vagina is hanging out of her shorts, then I have the right. (Sure, from a legal standpoint. Doesn’t make you less of an asshole or a misogynist though.) I’m currently using the 2nd amendment to my advantage. (O.o WHAT. OMFG WHAT JUST HAPPENED WHAT THE WHAT) I didn’tstate a name so it didnt harm anyone. Oh and by REAL definition I wasnt “slut shamming” in the first place. (That’s true, you were slut shaming. “Slut shamming” is actually more about provocative pillowcases than actually passing judgment on others.) Feel more than free to write me when I do Kay bye.
Danielle: it’s not dehumanizing them, if they dont wanna be called sluts, they wouldnt dress like that. (I know when I put on a sexy dress, I think to myself, “Gee, I hope Danielle Emmons and Morgan Hatten call me a slut today!”. They WANT to be called sluts!)
Michael Salas: Umm srry but u act like u knew about that slut shaming stuff so tbh if ur 13 it not as smart as someone who has graduate. (“it not as smart as someone who has graduated”. Disproved in one sentence of your own post, buddy.) So it kinda Is based on age why re you defending sluts anyway

This mess was submitted to me by weighhappy, who informs me that the original question was, “Is it socially acceptable for a girl to strip down to her bra in the middle of a store to try something on?” To which I would answer no, because our society is really hung up on hating women’s bodies, and perverting the natural human body into a sex object regardless of context. Should it be socially unacceptable? Also, no. Listen, we’ve all waited an hour to get into a damn dressing room, sometimes I just want to see if that shirt fits me and get the hell out of there! As long as you’re not breaking any public decency laws (which are generally stupid), who cares?

But no. Instead of saying any of those things, people speculated for TWENTY-THREE comments on how only sexy women, or maybe trashy women, or even blind women should strip down, and how we all love boobies, and also how the bra woman in question is not a woman at all, but in fact a 13 year-old child who is also somehow a “slut”, before our submitter, the voice of reason, shut it down.

There are no words.
